Update on Jacket III.

Jacket III still lacks fastenings and embellishments but now has a matching skirt. Maybe a hat is needed to complete this autumn outfit?

Jacket III

Jacket III is currently at the trickiest stage. The jacket in this evolving pattern has a full body-lining, so the fronts and back are waiting to be attached. 'Training the fabric,' teasing and holding it in position with pins and pressing, helps the shape to emerge.

Notes for next time are to cut the collar pieces on the cross and perhaps to experiment with a different size of collar.

Two weights of Dashwood cotton were chosen: Bethan Janine's Wildwood Aubergine and Susan Driscoll's September Blue Pod Trail in a lighter cotton lawn.

Periwinkle Calico WIP

Caitlin, sitting pretty amongst the periwinkle and celandine, is wearing her new A-line, panel skirt.

Before cutting into this lovely Spring with a zing fabric by Dashwood Studios, Wild 1041, I made up a prototype skirt in calico. As a learning exercise this was invaluable. It showed up the trickier seams where it was helpful to tack before machine stitching.

Wildwood Sofa.

The idea for this sofa has been coming together slowly. The design developing piece by piece. The back and arms are a variation suggested by the original Knole soda. There was our own visit through a wild wood to recover woodworking tools stored, appropriately for the fabric's fox theme, in an old hen house.

Particularly enjoyable was choosing how Bethan Janine's lovely Winter Forest pattern would fall - owls or fox? What about that little black hare? Delicate white mushrooms and bright berries give a magical dreamy quality to the little sofa, which is just right for curling up upon on a February evening.

Here it is awaiting its final fixings. These need to include sofa feet to make it the right height.
Finally, the sofa complete and occupied.
